Becoming a FunLab Panel Member

How do I register for the FunLab Panel?

First fill out the form via the registration link of this website. Part of the registration includes our profile survey, which is designed to let us get to know more about you, your background and family, and household. Completing the registration and profiling survey should take around 5 minutes and will enable us to ask you relevant questions in the future and make you a full member of the FunLab Panel.

What are the criteria for becoming a member of the FunLab Panel?

The registering parent or guardian (primary contact) must be between 18-65 years old and a resident of the United Kingdom. Please note that when you register to become a member you will be prompted to accept our Terms and Conditions.

Who should register for the panel?

The person registering should be 18-65 and a resident of the United Kingdom. If you are providing the details of any children who would like to participate in the FunLab research, you must be their parent or guardian. During the registration process you will be able to submit the names of each individual family member you wish to participate in research, but you will remain the primary contact for that individual.

During term time, the majority of sessions need to take place after school, so if you’re considering signing up to take part in our on-site testing programme, you need to live, work, or attend school, within a reasonable travelling distance to Stockley Park, Uxbridge.”

If I enter details about family or friends are they also registered?

Any information collected regarding other members of your family or friends does not register them as panellists . You will be the point of contact for the household upon registration.

Can I invite my friends to sign up?

Yes, so long as they meet the criteria above. Please feel free to give them our website details to sign up.

Receiving FunLab Invites

How will I be notified about FunLab activities?

We will send you an email invite every time an opportunity to participate in FunLab research is available for you.

When will I receive my first invite?

This will vary dependant on the profiling information that you provide and how it fits the varying criteria for each research project that we run.

Do I have to participate in every activity I am invited to?

Your time is important, so we understand if you don’t take part in every activity we invite you to. We will always involve you in activities that are most relevant to you from the information you have provided to us. Unfortunately we can’t involve everyone in all research projects due to the criteria and the volumes registered within this panel.

Why do I not get any invites?

Invites will be sent when your profile closely matches the requirements of the activity. Invites are only sent to those who have filled out all the profiling information which is part of the registration process.

What can I do to receive more FunLab activity invites from you?

We only send you invitations to our studies if the research we are doing matches your profile based on the information you provided when you joined the FunLab Panel.
Your invite will always be sent to the email address you registered with, so we recommend that you add panel@funlabuk.com to your address book. This ensures our emails are sent straight to your inbox and not to your junk email folder.
You can also check your details are up to date, by clicking on ‘My Account’ on the panel website and making any changes there.

If I’ve replied to a FunLab invite, will that guarantee that my session is confirmed?

Replying to an invite will not guarantee that you are confirmed to come to the FunLab. Our invites will generally be sent out to more people than we need for each project, as not everyone will be available or will fit the criteria of the project. Once you have replied to an invite, you may be contacted if you still fit the specific criteria we are looking for on a project, if you are available at the specific time slot we are looking to fill, and if we have not already filled all of the sessions.
In general, the sooner you reply to an invite, the greater your chances of receiving a call from one of our team to arrange and confirm your ability to attend a session.

Attending a FunLab Session at Stockley Park

How do I get there?

Instructions on how to reach Hasbro Stockley Park can be found here.  If you are travelling by public transport, please allow yourself enough time (particularly the bus waiting time).  If you are travelling by car, parking is available at the Hasbro offices, just outside the reception.  If your session is scheduled to finish after 6pm, you might prefer to park around the back of the building (as you’ll use the back door of the building to exit after 6pm) – please ask the receptionist for advice when you arrive.

What will happen during the session?

Each session will vary depending on the project, and the exact format of the session will be explained to you on the day.  To begin, the session will usually involve introductions and a brief discussion around a particular type of product or topic.  The majority of the session will usually be taken up looking at and playing with the toy or game in question, and this will be followed up by a discussion regarding you/your child’s experience.  There may be a paper questionnaire to fill out.  You will receive your incentive at the end of the session.

Who should I bring to the session?

Please always check on your invite who we have invited to participate in a session. We will not always invite your whole family. Please only come with the requested participants. Sometimes we may require just one of your children to attend if they are of a specific age. If just one of your children has been invited to attend the session, please do not bring their siblings expecting to participate. The numbers and ages of people chosen to participate are chosen for reasons specific to the individual project.

Who else will be present during the session?

Often your family or group of friends will be the only respondents present for the session. However we occasionally group respondents together who don’t know each other.
Situated in the FunLab itself, will be the respondents and the moderator only. Occasionally a member of the design team might be present to help out with the product functionality or game rules.
You may notice the large mirror in the FunLab room – behind the mirror is our FunLab viewing room, where our designers, marketing professionals and engineers are able to see into the FunLab and observe the reactions and play habits of the respondents. The moderator will be able to let you know if anyone is present in the viewing room before the session begins – just ask.

What will I need to bring to my FunLab session?

You will be asked to print, sign and bring along a copy of the Participation Waiver when you participate in a session on-site at the Hasbro FunLab. A Participation Waiver needs to be completed and signed for every participant. If you are bringing a child to the FunLab on behalf of their parent, you should get the Participation Waiver completed and signed by the child’s OWN PARENT in advance. We do not allow anyone to participate who does not have a correctly completed Participation Waiver. A copy of the Participation Waiver can be downloaded and printed here.
Other than the Participation Waiver you will be informed of any extra items to bring dependent on the project.

Why do I need to sign Hasbro’s Participation Waiver?

The Participation Waiver, available here, is designed to protect you ‘the respondent’ as well as Hasbro as a company.  It covers 4 key areas;

  • Permission for you or a child to take part in the research. We need the permission from the individual if over 18, or from the parent or guardian of any child under 18 – the registration process cannot be completed by the adult/chaperone bringing someone else’s child to a session.
  • Data protection – this clarifies the way in which we use and store your personal data. Please be assured we will not distribute your personal information to any external parties without your consent.
  • Permission to film the session.
  • Confidentiality – to guarantee that anything seen, used or discussed during the session is not disclosed to anyone outside of the building.

If the child is aged 12 or over, they may need to countersign an authorisation form on-site.

By registering to become a panelist for the FunLab Panel you are granting us authorisation and permission as outlined above.

Will we be filmed?

All sessions are recorded from the in-room cameras – these will be kept for reference and used to aid the write up of the research results (the footage will not be used in any TV, radio or print advertising).  Some sessions may be streamed over the intranet for other team members to observe, and footage of some sessions may also be streamed over the intranet to the Hasbro headquarters in Rhode Island (USA) so our US colleagues are able to observe.  DVD or digital copies may also occasionally be sent to US colleagues.  Footage can only be viewed by Hasbro employees, or Hasbro partners working on Hasbro premises.  If you have any concerns about the filming and streaming of the sessions, please contact us in advance of the session.

What measures are in place to ensure my child’s safety during their visit?

We take the safety of our respondents very seriously and have a number of measures in place to make sure the session will run as smoothly as possible and keep any potential risks to a minimum.

  • Our moderator has an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check and is approved to work with children.
  • Any staff attending the session are CRB checked and we have a comprehensive child protection policy which all involved employees sign and are obliged to follow.
  • Our moderator is a qualified first aider.
  • We ask about any medical conditions or allergies before the session – please make sure all this information is filled out accurately.

I have agreed to attend a session but now I can’t make it, what do I do?

A lot of planning and preparation goes into each session and non-attendance without prior notice is a major inconvenience. We request that you PLEASE let us know if you are no longer able to make, or if there may be a chance that you can’t make, your allotted time.
You and your family/ group are likely to be the only respondents due to attend that particular session, therefore we greatly value your attendance.

I have become delayed on my way to FunLab, how can I contact you?

In your invite you will have received the contact details you should use in case of emergencies. Depending on the nature of the schedule, becoming delayed on your way to the FunLab may mean that we are not able to run your session. Please give us as much warning as possible if you have become delayed.

Rewards

How will I be rewarded for taking part in the FunLab Panel?

All rewards are paid as Amazon Vouchers and range from £10-100+ depending on the project.
We will definitely include information about the rewards on the invites you receive.

How long will it take to get my rewards?

For FunLab studies taking place at Stockley Park, you will be given your reward at the end of the session. For prize draws, provided you have been notified and accept any winning prize draw, you will be sent an Amazon voucher via email.

Account and Login Information

When will I receive my login details?

Your login details will be emailed automatically to you after you complete the registration form. To ensure that our messages are sent straight to your inbox and not your junk email folder, please add panel@funlabuk.com to your address book.

What do my login details allow me to do?

Your login details allow you to log in to your FunLab account. Within the “My Account” section you are able to view and change any of the details you provided us with when you signed up. You will also have the option to change your email and password login details.

How do I change my login details?

To update your password or any other details entered during registration you must log in to your account via the My Account section of the website.

You will then be asked if you want to

  • Change email and/or password
  • Update personal details
  • Delete your Hasbro FunLab account

Select the appropriate option to update your details.

Occasionally we will send an email to remind panelists to update their information to ensure our records are up to date.

I no longer want to be part of FunLab Panel. How do I leave?

Simply click through via the ‘My Account’ link and you will see the option to ‘Unregister’ there.
We will then unsubscribe you, so you will no longer receive any emails from us. Please note that it may take a few business days to remove your details from our database. You can also click on the unregister link at the bottom of any survey invitation email.

Privacy

Is the personal information I provide kept private?

Any personal information you provide will only be used for the purpose of conducting market research and will not be shared with any third parties without your explicit consent. Your details will not be used for marketing or other purposes, but your feedback may occasionally be used for internal creative processes.

What information do you collect & how?

The information Hasbro collects at registration enables us to contact you for market research participation relating to any new or existing Hasbro products and to verify your identity. We ask you for your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address and age and limited information about family members you wish to participate in FunLab research.
This information will be submitted over and held on a secure server.
You should not submit your data to Hasbro unless you are happy to do so. Although we do not make it compulsory to give us every item of information we ask for, the more information you volunteer the better we can tailor our services for you.

What do you do with the data you collect?

We use the information we collect about you to determine your suitability for participating in various market research projects about new and / or existing Hasbro products and to contact you about participating in any such market research project we have identified as suitable for you.
We need to know your name, age, e-mail address and contact telephone number because this allows us to determine your suitability for trying out Hasbro’s products for market research purposes and to contact you about opportunities to take part in such market research events.
We may run surveys which you can choose to participate in. We may also use your information to verify your identity.

Where does my data go?

As part of the services offered by FunLab, the information you provide to us will be transferred to countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA). By way of example, this may happen where any of our servers are hosted by one of our Hasbro Group companies in a country outside the EEA or one of our service providers is located in a country outside the EEA. We also share information between our group companies, which are located in countries worldwide. These countries may not have similar data protection laws to the EEA. If we transfer your information outside the EEA in this way, we will take steps to ensure that your privacy rights continue to be protected. If you require contact details of our other group companies, please contact us as set out below.
Tribes Research specialises in building and hosting online research panels. The privacy and security of your information is paramount. When you register for the FunLab Panel, we ask for basic personal (e.g. email, name) and demographic information about you. We also send you a profiling survey which must be completed for you to become a full member. The personal details you have provided to register can be accessed and updated by you through logging in to the member page on the FunLab Panel website.
Other than the disclosures referred to in this policy, we will not disclose any personal information without your permission unless we are legally entitled or obliged to do so (for example, if required to do so by Court order or for the purposes of prevention of fraud or other crime).
Tribes Research follows the Data Protection Act 1998 and personal privacy legislation. We undertake all research in accordance with the Market Research Society Code of Conduct, and ESOMAR guidelines.

Security information

We have implemented technology and policies to help safeguard your privacy from unauthorised access and improper use including encrypting your details when they are transmitted from our server to help keep them secure. We will continue to review and update our security measures where appropriate, as new technology becomes available.

Information about Cookies
A cookie is a small data file that identifies you as a unique user. We use cookies to make sure you are remembered by our site. You can change your browser to tell you when cookies are being placed on your computer. You can also delete cookies by changing your browser settings. Tribes Research will not disclose its cookies to third parties unless we have to as required by a valid legal process. We only store this information if you register for the panel. Registration for the panel signifies an acceptance of these terms and conditions and our right to do so.

Accuracy of Information

The accuracy and integrity of the surveys and data we collect is based on the honesty of our registered members in giving us information such as the personal information they provide for their accounts and their responses to questions in surveys. We will close the account(s), without notice, of any member who, we believe, has created duplicate accounts, attempts to answer the same survey more than once using different names and/or email addresses, knowingly provides false information, or provides information carelessly or incompletely.
Any member found contravening these terms will be prevented indefinitely from becoming a member of any online panel managed by Tribes Research.
